Holtspur Bottom Butterfly Reserve

In 2014, we were lucky enough to persuade pupils at Holtspur School (a few hundred metres as the crow flies from our reserve at Holtspur Bottom) to put their impressions of butterflies on paper. In return, we gave them a small grant to buy some pollinator- and butterfly-friendly plants for Lottie's Garden, a place with very special memories for the school.

Before they started drawing, most of the children had an opportunity to visit our Reserve. Fiona O'Reilly, the Deputy Head Teacher commented:

'What an eye opener the Butterfly Reserve was for the children! They loved exploring the meadows and spotting butterflies on the wing. It has really sparked an interest and excitement amongst them. What a fabulous resource just on our doorstep!'
